Found in Translation: Fostering Community Through Arts and Culture

My name is Tatenda Rameau. I am an actor, producer, journalist, and arts advocate passionate about the power of storytelling to bring people together.Having lived, studied, and worked across the United States, France, Ghana, Spain, England, Austria, and beyond, I have witnessed firsthand how art, media, and culture can transcend language, geography, and difference. These experiences shaped my belief that meaningful connections are often found in translation—through conversations, creativity, and shared human experiences.Whether interviewing artists, performing on stage, producing creative projects, or engaging with communities through service and advocacy, my goal remains the same: to build bridges through storytelling.

Ghana Tenth Year High School Reunion

Born in Syracuse, New York, Tatenda Rameau spent her childhood navigating life across multiple countries, cultures, and languages. By the age of eighteen, she had attended ten different schools in the United States, France, and Ghana.
These experiences taught her resilience, adaptability, and empathy. They also exposed her to the challenges of feeling different and experiencing bullying as a young student trying to find her place in unfamiliar environments.
To cope with those challenges, Tatenda turned to storytelling. Inspired by the characters she watched on television and stage, she learned to imagine new possibilities for herself and discovered a lifelong passion for acting and creative expression.

Today, Tatenda is a graduate of Wellesley College, an alumna of the Honors Acting Conservatory at The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts in Washington, D.C., and a graduate journalism student at Georgetown University.
Her work as a performer, interviewer, journalist, and advocate is guided by one central belief: that stories have the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create understanding across cultures.

MISSION STATEMENT

Found in Translation is a cultural exchange and arts accessibility initiative dedicated to strengthening communities through storytelling, artistic expression, and meaningful dialogue.

Inspired by Tatenda's experiences growing up across continents and cultures, Found in Translation recognizes that our differences can become sources of connection rather than division. Through community engagement, interviews, educational outreach, and arts advocacy, the initiative seeks to create opportunities for people to share their stories and learn from one another.
